for you camera lovers out there....?

so my boyfriends birthday is coming up.
he's a movie major and already has a dvx hd video camera (it cost 3000 dollars) but he just bought a little 50 dollar pentax 35 mm camera to lately play with and have fun, do you think it would be a good idea if i bought him a fisheye lens to go with it? lemme know.
he films and shoots bmx
Central length equivalent to 27.5mm to 383mm in the 35mm format
14x zoom reach of 18-250mm makes this the ideal all-around lens
ED atmosphere and two aspherical elements compensate for chromatic and spherical aberration
Internal meet mechanism prevents the front lens element and lens barrels from moving during focusing
Lens focuses as penny-pinching as 18 inches throughout the entire zoom range
Where can I get a dented filter taken off of my lens?
I have a UV drip on my 50mm lens for my Pentaxs, but the edge is dented. It has been like that for a couple of years and now I want to get if off. I have tried myself, but I'm timid I am going to damage the lens if I try too hard. I want it off now so I can experiment with more filters and remove some of the dust trapped between the lens and ooze. The lens itself is fine, but the filter has got to go.
Will Ritz be able to remove it or do I have to find someone else?
Here is an old picture of the camera and lens. You can see the dent on the at once side of the lens:

Thanks.
LOL! Thanks Muxis, but I don't characterize as I'll be taking this into my own hands. I'll breaking something for sure.
I can buy a new filter, so that does not matter too much.
Most material camera stores (a store that only sells cameras, not 10,001 other things and cameras) should have a filter removal gizmo under the counter. Once they remove the stuck filter, buy a new one from them.

Which Pentax K200d SLR package is best for the photographer on a budget?
I am in the deal with of buying a new SLR camera. I am on a budget and have chosen the Pentax k200d. should I buy the camera with the kit lens (18-55mm f/3.5-5.6) and simply buy another telephoto lens? Or would buying the camera without the kit lens, economy about $100 and purchase an all in one lens (such as a 27-200mm lens) be wiser? Any suggestions for lens's would be undeniably helpful. Also I am on a budget of sub $1000.
In my theory you should buy the K200D with the 18-55mm kit lens. Once you have fully mastered the camera and all its features you will know what you like to shoot and the limitations of the kit lens. Honourable buying a lens without knowing what you photograph the most is usually a poor decision.
After a few months you may find that you prefer to hurt landscapes and close-ups of flowers and insects. Your shopping list would have two lenses: a wide angle (12mm, 20mm) for landscapes and a macro (90mm, 100mm) for unconventional closeups. Or, you may find that you like shooting birds and other wildlife and sports. For this you'll need a longer lens - 300mm or 400mm.
So my suggestion is to buy the basic package, learn to use it, stretch it to its limitations and then sit down and decide which lens (or lenses) you need to do what you want to do.
This register should help: "David Busch's Quick Snap Guide to Digital SLR Lenses" by (surprise) David Busch. http://www.dbusch.com/ He also wrote a Light for your camera so you might want to add it to your book list. I also suggest reading these books: "Understanding Exposure" and "Concordat Shutter Speed", both by Bryan Peterson.
When you buy your camera package, allow some extra funds to add a tripod, a UV leach and a circular polarizer. I suggest buying the tripod at a local camera store so you can check the features and benefits of divergent brands and models. Do not waste your money on a cheap tripod and cheap filters. Manfrotto, Gittos, Slik, Velbon, Gitzo are all nobility tripods. B+W, Tiffen, Heliopan, Hoya, Singh-Ray are all quality filter brands.

Will this size lens hood fit this lens?
Will a lens hood that is magnitude 55mm(http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B001K3DRAG/ref=ord_cart_shr?_encoding=UTF8&m=A1P9QRDRYY6FXL&v=glance) fit a 18-55mm lens? or do I essential a 52mm lens hood for a 18-55mm lens. I am looking at the pentax cameras.
No. That lens has a 52mm cord.
U actually need a Pentax PH-RBA 52mm Lens Hood for Pentax smc P-DA 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 Lens, because it bayonet mounts on the lens.
try http://www.bhphotovideo.com and do a search for PH-RBA.
It's 19.95.

Depth of field with Pentax k100d super?
I lately got my Pentax k100 super and want to figure out an easy way to get those awesome pics where one part of the pic is in focus but the rest isnt. I be aware it has to do with aperture and depth of field.
I am new (obviously) to DSLR s and have been working with it, but would like someone to put it in layman's terms. :)
Also I have other questions about what the greatest accessories for this camera are. I have purchased ND filer, Polarizer filter and one other, but and I am looking at a macro lens and telephoto lens, deviant angle/fish eye lens. Im so lost about it all! :) Any help would be appreciated !

Pentax K1000, what new cameras will ?
Permit my old lenses. i have about 6 different ones and tired of dropping film off. Is there a digital camera that will work with my K1000 lenses.
tnx
You made a facts choice in Pentax! Any of the Pentax digital SLRs (K200D, K100D, K10D, K20D, K2000/K-m) will work with every K-mount lens ever made.
If it isn't an autofocus lens you will have to concentrate manually, and if it isn't a KA (auto exposure) lens you'll have to use aperture-preferred mode (or set unmasking manually). But the lenses will fit and work.
No other digital SLR brand can do this (work with the same manufacturer's older lenses). A huge win for Pentax in my impression, especially considering the tremendous number of great lenses made in K-mount over the decades. I have a KA 50mm f1.4 that I'm surprisingly fond of for existing light work...
There is of course a "multiplier" in effective centralized length because the sensor is not full 35mm frame size - Pentax has not yet made a full-frame digital to my knowledge.

HI, i'm looking for a wide angle lens for a pentax mx-50 camera. Is there such thing or another that will fit ?
The MZ-50 was called the ZX-50 in North America, but they never had a ideal named MX-50.
You can mount and use any lens ever made for a Pentax 35mm SLR or DSLR, but with that model you might want to stick to auto-focus lenses.
There are many big angle lenses on the market that will work great on your MZ-50/ZX-50. You might want to look at http://www.bhphotovideo.com.
For acclimatized lenses, I'd look at eBay and http://www.keh.com.
Good luck and have fun!

Film camera recommendations? (yes, another one)?
So I've got a very hair-splitting Digital Kiss X (called the Rebel xti in America I believe). I love it to death, but I'm interested in scholarship stuff about film. I'm up for recommendations on cameras. I only have EF-S lenses, so it doesn't necessarily have to be Canon.
Something that's extent manual and good for those that can't shoot film to save their own lives would be nice, I asked around and was told to buy a Pentax K1000 + 50mm...proper wanted to see what other options might be.
Thanks,
Creach
My budget would be about $100, it'll be mostly for portraiture.
Pentax K1000 is a kind choice.
Canon AE1
Nikon FM
Nikon FM10
Nikon FE
Nikon FG
Olympus OM 10
Fujica ST605
Canon AT1
Olympus OMP
If you do portraits then you will necessary a 135mm lens. I have used all of these cameras and have several on hand.
If you want one that works (last time I checked) for a good amount let me know and we can see what we can do. I have a Canon AT1 I'm willing to part with. I was going to put it on eBay but never got around to it.

Is my Pentax k1000 fixable?
In the hold finder, I see a little piece of black foam hanging there. But when I open the camera (take of the lens), I don't see anything hanging there.
If there's lather or rubber needed to be replaced, would my Pentax still fixable? Since it's discontinued and the company has moved on to digital products, isn't badly to order parts and get it fixed? Do Pentax still have parts?
Is it over for this camera?
I thought it would be nice to keep it as an antique camera. The camera still looks new and clean. However, if it's not functioning, what's the point?
The K1000 is plainly serviceable. The price shouldn't even be too bad. Hunt around and get a few quotes. See if there's a camera technician in your area who can take a look at it.
It sounds like you could even put up with it but there's a gamble that the foam might move and mess up a picture. There'll probably be some light leaking around the mirror too. Foam and sealing strips are moderately generic products. A camera technician will have a few sizes which cover most cameras.
Edit: Second hand pro cameras... Very luscious. I got tempted once. Great for 12 months. Then a couple of little problems - the repair quote for that has meant it has sat in a cupboard for ten years.

Does the Pentax K200D SLR camera come with a lens?
I'm new to photography and I'm contemplative about buying this camera - does it come with a lens?
Predominantly not.
There are some companies that sell "kits" which include the camera and a standard lens, but most of the people who buy DSLR's either have the lenses from the days of shooting with 35 mm SLR's or have an belief of that lenses they want and don't want the "kit" lens.
Example:
When I bought my first DSLR I bought it with 12-24 mm and 24-85 mm lenses because I pump full of lead a lot of architectural images (12-24 is just perfect) and fashion and glamour (24-85 mm was the best election for shooting about 85% of the rest of what I shoot)
All the other lenses I already had, work just fine with my DSLR (400 mm and 600mm)
You should be capable to find some excellent used "K"-mount lenses so you can expand your system without breaking your bank.

OK - you were reasoning of a top-end compact. So already, we assume, that swapping lenses and suchlike is not something you're wanting to do.
So why would you go for this at £350 when you could get, say, a Panasonic DMC FZ28 with a 18x zoom and all the bells and whistles you'd basic for about half the price? And you don't have to switch lenses?
In fact - what exactly do you get in a DSLR that you don't get in an FZ28? Please don't feverishness me - I really want to know.
We need a "?" icon - so many of my comments are truly questions....
I think you guys missed something that the people at dpreview spotted and that's a very weird AF configuration. Quoting from their give one's opinion of:
Five AF points sounds promising (especially in a sector with several 3 AF-point cameras), but the active mark is always automatically selected without any indication given as to which one has been used. The only alternative is to lock the camera to use its central AF-matter, so you're left either with an AF system that won't tell you what it's doing or a single AF-point camera. While this is delightfully unthreatening to newcomers, it's a system that most people will swiftly out-grow and one that is likely to make many experienced users simply walk away.
You get a much, much, bigger semblance sensor and this has 2 effects:
1. Much, much less noise in pictures, especially low light ones as the pixel density on the sensor is much soften (each gets moire light)
2. Control over depth of field. high quality pics often have core on a subject within the frame, portraits are a good example, with the rest of the iamge being a nice slick blur of soft focus. This is easy to achieve on a DSLR by just opening up the chasm, compacts and bridge cameras weith compact sensors struggle to achieve any significant DOF effects. So, for e.g. if you take picture of someone in the crown, the entire crowd is in sharp focus not jsut your under discussion, the image is flat and boring.
